Down Boosted By Kilcoo Four

Down’s ambitions for 2017 have been dealt a major boost as four players from County champions Kilcoo are set to commit to the squad.

Jerome Johnston, Ryan Johnston, Paul Devlin and Darragh O’Hanlon will be available to manager Eamonn Burns for the Mourne Men’s National League opener against Fermanagh.

The men in Red and Black will hope for more success after 2016 saw a loss in every competitive game a disaster in a county with a tradition such as Down’s.

The Kilcoo men come with a wealth of experience and a winning mentality annexing honours in Down before falling short to Slaughtneil in this years Ulster Club Final.

Further additions in the experienced Mark Poland and a return of AFL player Caolan Mooney should mean a stronger 2017.

Their Championship gets underway on June 4th with the visit of rival Armagh in the Ulster Championship.
