Donegal proved far too strong for New York in the first leg of their Senior Challenge games running out seven point victors last night in Gaelic Park.

A strong Donegal side spearheaded in attack by Patrick McBrearty and Michael Murphy led the ex-pats 1-7 to 0-2 at the break.

The sizeable crowd within the compounds of New York’s Gaelic Park enjoyed a competitive game of football with the Ulstermen’s class reigning supreme in the second half. The game finished 1-12 to 1-5 in favour of the 2012 All Ireland Champions.

Rory Gallagher’s side have travelled to the United States for the games in a vital fundraising platform in the hope of raising funds for the County’s new training centre in Convoy. Both sides will meet in the second leg tomorrow, evening with a throw in time of 7pm Local Time.
