Johnny Buckley has been nominated by Dr Crokes.

Dr Crokes have nominated Johnny Buckley to be the Kerry captain for the 2017 season.

Kerry and Kilkenny are one on the last counties that the county champions have the honour of nominating the captain of the senior inter county team.

Buckley who is now 27 has not played for Kerry this year as his focused remained on his club team leading up to the All Ireland Club Championship.



Buckley made his debut for Kerry back in 2012 in the league against Laois and has played in a winning All Ireland final in 2014 against Donegal.

Kerry first game of the championship is against either Clare on Limerick in the Munster Semi Final, in which they look to retain the Munster title.
