Maurice Shanahan will serve a one match ban, he appealed the red card overturned and the Central Hearing Committee would not overturn this.
The All Star player received a red card against Waterford’s lost to Cork and was alleged to have struck Cork’s Dean Brosnan with a hurley.
The central hearing committee stated that Shanahan did “[strike] with the hurley with minimal force,”.
The one match ban means that Shanahan will miss the final round of Division 1A away against Clare in Cusack Park this Sunday.
Shanahan has been struck with the hurl in past by Liam Rushe.
