Ó Fiaich Cup Semi Final Tyrone 2-19 Louth 0-14
Darren McCurry led the way with 1-9 as an experimental Tyrone eased by Louth to set up a final with old rival Armagh.
Tyrone set the pace from the first minute with Cathal McShane opening the scoring from the throw in. The Red Hands raced into an early 0-5 to 0-1 lead.
The ‘wee’ county were dealt a blow in the sixteenth minute when centre half back was shown a black card.
Scores from Raith and McEneaney kept Louth in touch as half time approached but the Red Hands quality showed as points from McCurry, McShane and Brennan gave the favourites a four point advantage at the break.
The Ulster men were quickly out of the blocks again in the second half as McCurry pointed before Ronan O’Neill hit the net streching the lead to six.
Both sides then traded scores with McDonnell and Halcroft pointing for the Leinster men with McCurry and Munroe adding for the holders.
Both sides rang the changes as Tyrone pulled further ahead thanks to further points from McCurry and Brennan before the Edendork man capped a man of the match performance drilling the ball into the net with five minutes to play.
Debutante Ronan McHugh finished the scoring sealing Tyrone’s passage to next Sunday’s final with an eleven point victory.
Tyrone will look to retain the trophy in next Sunday’s final at Crossmaglen against rivals Armagh.
Armagh qualified for the final with a 2-20 to 3-13 win over Derry a fortnight ago in a thrilling end to end game.
