Savage hopes Clifford will maximize minor stint

Jack Savage hopes David Clifford will maximize his stint with the minor county tournament.

“I’m hoping he stays around definitely,” Savage told The Irish Daily Star.

He listed a few names who went on grabbed the AFL opportunities that came their way.

“Back in ’09 we lost Tommy Walsh from my own club and he was a big loss to Kerry at the time.” he said.

He added they also lost Mark O’Connor two years ago.

But the Kerins O’Rahillys clubman said he can’t blame the players for choosing to go pro.

“I’d go off tomorrow in a heartbeat if I could – so there’s no complaints there!”

He commended Clifford and said he has the skills that can bring him to great places.

“David has the Maurice Fitzgerald knack about him and he has the skill about him so hopefully we can hang onto him.”
