Tony Browne says Waterford contender for All-Ireland next year

Tony Browne says Waterford is a strong contender for the All-Ireland senior hurling title next year.

“It’ll be just as hard if not harder for everyone elese to get back to a final. I said it on the TV just before the game, this final was already an appetiser for the 2018 championship,” Browne wrote on The Irish Examiner.

He said he was “shattered” to see Waterford lose at Croke Park in Sunday’s decider.

However, he said the experience Derek McGrath’s squad earned will be valuable next year.

“We now have to get back and bank on this experience. Of course it won’t be easy.”

Na Deise legend Browne also experienced the same heartbreak when they also finished as runner-upn in 2008.

He also gave a forecast on teams that will be bringing their all next year.

“Cork will want a crack of it. And Tipp. And Kilkenny. And Wexford. And Dublin too; a team relegated down to Division 1B tends to bounce back well these years. It’ll be an absolute minefield”

But of course, his support will always be for his main team.

“Cork will want a crack of it. And Tipp. And Kilkenny. And Wexford. And Dublin too; a team relegated down to Division 1B tends to bounce back well these years. It’ll be an absolute minefield”
